  • Mullite silicon carbide composite material is a unique and multi-component material, which is mainly composed of mullite and silicon carbide, and has the advantages of high temperature resistance, erosion resistance, high temperature corrosion resistance, high thermal shock stability and low creep rate at high temperature. Due to the unique crystal structure and composition of mullite, it has shown a wide range of applications in the preparation of composite materials. In mullite - silicon carbide composite materials, in-situ generated SiC whiskers and well-developed columnar mullite significantly improve the bending strength, fracture toughness and thermal shock resistance of samples at room temperature. In addition, studies have shown that adding a small amount of β-SiC whiskers can enhance the strength of mullite and increase its fracture toughness by more than 100%.

    Due to its excellent physical and chemical properties and a wide range of applications, mullite SIC composites have become the ideal choice in many industrial fields. However, depending on the use environment and needs, the ratio of composite materials and manufacturing processes may need to be fine-tuned to meet specific performance requirements.
